Last Time

When Dan was deployed in '03, I was working as the Editor of a small monthly cultural journal. Part of my editorial duties was writing the monthly Editor's column. When it became clear that Dan was leaving, it suddenly got very difficult for me to write, particularly anything as polished as a publishable column. So I started my "deployment journal," because, even though it was hard to think and write coherently about deployment, it was easier than thinking and writing coherently about anything else.
