Just because it's Friday

Ten things you may not know about me:

 1) Today I bought a grande latte at Starbucks (rather than a tall) for what I think was the first time since I graduated from college. It's Friday. And I had a long drive ahead of me.

 2) Yes, I know it's the end of January, but I don't like wearing shoes. Or socks. I spent my childhood barefoot (and I can hear my father saying, "Well put on socks if you're cold!").I prefer to be barefoot. So today I'm wearing flip-flops anyway.

 3) Country music from the late '80s and early '90s feels like home to me--Alabama, Lorrie Morgan, Shenandoah, Diamond Rio, the Judds. . . .

4) My toes are a) deformed or b) freakishly long, depending on who you ask.

 5) Kelly Clarkston's song Breakaway always reminds me of my sister. I miss her.

 6) Our closest neighbors own cows. Six of them. The neighbors on the other side of the pasture from them own horses. I'm thankful for the chance to look at them and smell them. That, too, makes me feel at home.

 7) My father's hands will probably always seem to me like the biggest, strongest hands in the world. Even though two of my brothers are already much bigger than him.

 8) I yelled myself hoarse at a high-school wrestling meet last night. I've got a sinking feeling I'm going to be one of those moms who's loud and embarrassing on the sidelines. (Come to think of it, I'm probably already one of those sisters who's loud and embarassing on the sidelines. Horrors!)

 9) If Dan wasn't here to stop me, I might be naming my kids Fríþwebba, Æthelberhtand the like. Just one of the many reasons Elijah has to be thankful for his father.

10) My favorite blend of tea is Irish Breakfast.

I knew 2, 4, 9 & 10. The sock thing must be why we are kindred spirits :) Remember finals week and the raspberry (for you) and white chocolate mochas?
